Hydroworks was commissioned by TrustPower Ltd to redesign the two 3000kW 1922 Escher Wyss Francis turbines at Coleridge power station to improve their efficiency and service life. The first unit, G8, was recommissioned early 2008 with a new runner, modified guide vanes and new seal rings and cheek plates. The second turbine, G9, is currently undergoing a more complete rebuild including new guide vanes and regulation linkages. The first unit was found to have had an increase in efficiency of 12% after refurbishment.
